stage
Much rhymes with German tier (“animal”), nothing rhymes with mensch (“human”). Kafka's canonical narrative “A Report for an Academy” (1920), which is the last nail in the coffin of man as the crown of creation, is brought to the stage in the theater performance “Hard Feelings” with a hyper-realistic animal. Narrative, Kafka's monkey turns out to be a man who skillfully manipulates his own fiction. But a monkey that has successfully become human does not simply become free, but ends up in a network of fictions that determines and limits it. As human beings, we live in nation states, live in dysfunctional families, and work on our biographies - questionable fictions that cannot be easily removed. What can we hope for? Using modern 3D tracking technology, a pianist and a gorilla bring Kafka's fiction back to life 100 years after its release.

Regie/Bühne: Jan Philipp Stange und Jakob Engel, Dramaturgie: Philipp Scholtysik, Licht: Simon Möllendorf, Musik: Jacob Bussmann, Kostüm: Maylin Habig, Produktion: Carmen Salinas, Organisatorische Mitarbeit Bühne: Laila Gerhardt und Tobias Rauch, Fotos: Christian Schuller
