In Les Gardiennes, the guest curators Lisa Klosterkötter and Alicia Reymond dedicate themselves to the work of the artist Leonor Fini, some of whose work is also in the possession of the Bochum Art Museum, and place them in a dialogue with positions from contemporary art. Thanks to Jakob Engel‘s exhibition scenography, the special architecture of the ground floor of the art museum is transformed into a stage that connects the interior of the museum with the adjacent garden area and opens a kind of portal into Leonor Fini‘s world. The exhibited works by Leonor Fini and the artist Frederik Vium are complemented by a performance program that moves between two key moments: The Unfolding on December 3, 2022 and The Decline on February 11, 2023 with site-specific performances by the artists Mayara Yamada and Rosanna Graf and Paulina Nolte.

Les Gardiennes takes place within the framework of Residence NRW+. Residence NRW+ is a practice-oriented scholarship program for particularly talented young artists (artists and curators) in the field of visual contemporary art based in Münster. www.residencenrw.de
